After studying Maths & Computing at University, Amanda aligned her love of technology and Maths by starting her career working on an IT Helpdesk at IBM. Shortly after she moved to Shell, which led to a 20 year successful career spanning many different roles, most notably working with the Shell Business to keep Global Fuel stations connected and innovative. She had some amazing role models through her career, which inspired her to go on to lead the UK Women in IT Network for Shell through 2015-2016. Since then, she has spoken on Tech panels, mentored business start-ups and helped schools design STEM pathways. Amanda also worked at Microsoft before joining Accenture in September 2019, and is excited about the prospect of supporting business growth in the North.
Amanda is incredibly passionate about STEM careers, and encouraging others to consider the vast and wonderful opportunities. In her “spare” time, she aims to support and empower women to reach their potential, through her blog www.thecareermum.co.uk and Global Facebook community (which now has almost 5000 global members). Oh, and she is also a mum of four (including identical twins)!
